Worry not...

Well we made it home safe..kids are all in one piece and still very capable of turning the place upside down when unsupervised. (yes I'm still in bed at midday while the kids are at large, it's the holidays...I've earnt it!)

So all that stress and worry was for nothing? I don't think so. I think if we didn't worry about our kids then who would? I believe its a God given attribute that comes with parenting. In all species. Some may be a little more overly protective (paranoid) than others but maybe that ensures survival of the species. Who knows.

Of course humans are that one step up from animals in that we generally look out for our children their whole lives. Not just until they can walk etc. It's a huge responsibility but one that I am immensely proud of being able to be a part of.

My heart breaks for those children in the world who have parents or caregivers that are unable or unwilling to provide that love, support and protection. No child should feel on their own when their family is around them.

Sorry this post is a bit heavy today but I just want to express my gratitude for a wonderful family. Parents who are not perfect but who I have always known have my best interests at heart and love me. Children who give me the opportunity to feel a glimpse of the joy and pain that a loving Heavenly Father must feel for all of His children. And a husband who supports me and loves me despite having to queue up behind the children for my attention.

If the sock monster is all I have to worry about then life must be pretty great.

  1. It's good your kids survived without you. Sometimes I have trouble leaving mine to go out to dinner. It depends on who is babysitting. I really love reading how much you enjoy motherhood and your children.
